The practice of Scott Lewis Landscape Architecture (SLLA) is founded on a distinct appreciation for each site’s unique characteristics. The firm’s philosophy is to combine an emphasis on site sensitivity with a clear understanding of client objectives, an appreciation of architectural intent and an interest in progressive materials. SLLA solutions both engage the user and enhance the landscape.

The office, established in 1993 in San Francisco, provides complete landscape architectural design services, including master planning, site planning and design, construction management and post-construction site guidance.

Scott R. Lewis, Principal, and the firm’s professional staff have extensive experience in managing complex commissions that require broad technical sophistication. SLLA’s projects typically demand intensive service and a single-source overview of site work. The SLLA office collaborates closely with other design consultants. These cohesive partnerships are evident in SLLA-designed estates, historic gardens and institutional sites in the Western United States.

With hands permanently covered in plaster and paint, Caroline is happiest working in Old World ways. She trained for her craft in the cobblestoned streets of Florence, Italy, and continue to bring that antiquated sensibility to all of her projects today. You’ll find her on every job site, working each layer of color and detailing solely by hand.

She’s passionate not only about creating amazing interior environments but also in helping clients find and express their own distinctive style. No two jobs are ever alike. Whether it’s a boutique hotel in Napa Valley, an expansive winery estate, or a private residence, Caroline’s approach is always the same: create a space that is utterly authentic and magically artful.
